Gujarat by-election: BJP fields Alpesh Thakor from Radhanpur assembly

Both Thakor and Zala had quit as MLAs on July 5, before the Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat. They joined the BJP in the same month.

Gujarat: Congress MLAs Alpesh Thakor, Dhavalsinh Zala resign from state assembly; say party humiliated them

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday fielded former Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor in the by-election to Radhanpur assembly section of Gujarat.

The BJP has given ticket to Daval Singh Zala, a former Congress MLA, to contest the election from Bayad.

Both Thakor and Zala had quit as MLAs on July 5, before the Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat. They joined the BJP in the same month.

Thakore had been vocal regarding his variations with the Congress and he quit the party before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May.

A distinguished OBC leader and a former MLA from Radhanpur in Gujarat’s Patan district, Alpesh Thakor had aforesaid that he was “ignored and insulted” within the Congress. Zala was the MLA from Bayad.
