Unable to pay hefty fines imposed by traffic cops under new Motor Vehicles Act, a Rickshaw driver tried to end his life by drinking phenyl in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The man, identified as Raju Solanki, has been admitted in a hospital. He was unable to pay the challan of Rs 18,000 due to poor financial condition. His rickshaw has been confiscated for not paying penalty amount.
Going by the reports, the 48-year-old rikshaw driver is the lone breadwinner of his family of four and has been unemployed for the past one-and-a-half months.
