Gujarat University (GU) seems to be struggling for the timely announcement of results. Around 3,000 students enrolled in Master of Science (MSc) in School of Science at GU are waiting for their results even when majority of them had appeared for the online exams in July.

It has been three months since then, but there is no news about the results. The delay has put on hold their job plans and higher studies.

“Our exam was conducted in July. As per department officials, they submitted the result to the authorities in the varsity soon after the exam. We need to apply for higher studies and jobs. Only if we get our results soon will it help us. We hope we are spared the anxiety and the uncertainty about our future,” said a student of the mathematics department in GU.

Another student from the department of chemistry said that they wanted to get their results on time as the online exam was held much before the exams held by other departments. “There are students who have bagged jobs and need to produce documents. But nothing is moving forward. We are sitting idle at home without any job. The university must understand the urgency of the situation and act fast,” said the student.

Students said that they had already made a representation to the varsity authorities but received no response. Heads at GU’s School of Science decided to take online exams because there are fewer students pursuing master’s degree compared to other schools. Most PG departments at GU completed online exams in the first half of August.

Kalpen Vora, exam controller at GU, said the delay is due to the internal marks have to be uploaded. “We will declare the MSc result by a week’s time,” he said.
