The long awaited teaser of upcoming film ‘Gully Boy‘ starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhat in lead roles is out, presenting the two stars in a never-seen-before avatar. The venture is co-produced by Zoya Akhtar’s Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment productions.
The one-and-a-half minute Gully Boy teaser, shared on the official Excel Movies’ YouTube channel, introduces Ranveer’s character, revealed to us as the ‘voice of the streets’. And it is in his own voice that Gully Boy provides a glimpse into his life with no dialogues but only a rap – he lives in the slums of Mumbai, which is where he hones his skills as a rapper.
Going by the quick moving snippets viewers can understand that Ranveer’s character faces resistance from his family and society to fulfil his dream. But he does get what he aims for in the end. Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin play a crucial role in the development of Ranveer Singh’s character graph in the film. Alia is introduced with the same intense look she wore in the poster of the film while Kalki seems to be playing the role of a carefree girl.
By the end of the video, we get to know the trailer release date of Gully Boy. The trailer will be released on January 9. It ends with Ranveer saying, “Apna Time Aayega (Our time will come)”. Sharing the video on Twitter, Ranveer wrote, “#AsliHipHop – #GullyBoy Trailer announcement.”
Gully Boy has been co-produced by Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment and will hit the theatres on February 14.
Apart from this, Ranveer and Alia will also share the screen space in Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial ‘Takht‘. The period drama is set in the Mughal era and also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar in key roles.
