Gurugram, Jan 19 (IANS) The Gurugram police have booked a veterinary doctor and a compounder for negligence that led to the death of two pet dogs belonging to a resident of Sector-56 here.

Doctor Rahul Dangi and compounder Anup Singh of ‘ARD pet hospital’ were booked following an order of a local court.

The complainant Anees Rahil of Sector-56 in Gurugram, who was also the owner of the dogs, said that on May 2020 she had visited the pet hospital located in the same area after her female dog’s health deteriorated.

“At the hospital, Dangi told the woman that her dog is undernourished and would recover soon. Later the dog was referred to ‘Animalia Veterinary Policy clinic’ Sector-47 for ultrasound and X-rays. Thereafter the pet was admitted to the doctor’s hospital for further treatment,” the complainant alleged.

On 25 May 2020, the complainant brought her male dog after it seemed to be unwell.

“The dog was later taken to the same hospital where the compounder Anup Singh was taking care of the animal,” the woman told the police.

As the woman reached home, the hospital authorities called her up to inform her that both her pets had died.

The complainant alleged that while claiming the dogs’ bodies, she was shocked to notice that the animals were wrapped in a plastic bag, despite breathing. She called for help but her pets passed away in the meantime.

The complainant then alleged negligence by the doctor and the compounder of the hospital behind the deaths.

“Dangi was not registered with Haryana Veterinary Council as per the norms of Indian Veterinary Council and Haryana State Veterinary Council. The Animal Husbandry department, Gurugram in its letter to Deputy Director Animal Husbandry has also recommended revocation of license of the alleged doctor for period of six months” the complainant told the police.
