Gurugram will witness summer as the temperatures are likely to go above 45 degrees C on Monday. Clear skies are pushing the mercury to rise sharply over the last few days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday warned ‘heatwave’ to ‘severe heatwave’ conditions will prevail with the maximum temperature likely to touch 47-48 degrees C.

Delhi records highest temperature in history, sets an all-time record at 48°C

“The region has been experiencing dry northwest winds for the last two days and is likely to continue for the next 4-5 days. Relief is expected on Friday when the city is expected to rain, “ an IMD official said.

“This week will be the hottest in the northern parts of India. Temperature is likely to hover around 48 degrees Celsius in Haryana,” said Navdeep Dahiya, a meteorologist.

According to the doctor Dr Amitabh Parti, director (internal medicine) at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, senior citizens and children should avoid going outside in summer as extreme heat conditions increase the vulnerability of people with heart, respiratory, and brain diseases. People advised to keep themselves hydrated and avoid temperature changes. They should take vitamin C in their diet to increase immunity. It is advised that an active person should drink at least 1.5 to 2 liters of water every day.
