Fastest ODI Hundred & Half-Century vs West Indies
The world record of ODI international’s fastest fifty and fastest century, belongs to ABD. He made this record against the West Indies in Johannesburg in the year 2015.
On a visit to South Africa, the West Indies team was destroyed by the De Villiers destructive batting. Proteas made a huge score of 439 runs for 2 wickets in 50 overs. In the same match, AB made a couple of unbelievable records.
In the match, West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and invited the South African team to bat first. The hosts made a spectacular start as Hashim Amla and Rilee Rossouw took the class of the West Indies team’s bowlers by an opening partnership of 247 runs. Rossouw was out on the third ball of the 39th over of the innings and then AB de Villiers entered on the field.
AB made the world record of the fastest fifty from 16 balls in just 19 minutes. He landed 3 fours and 5 sixes for this record. His record remains intact even today.
AB then went on to hit the world’s fastest century from 31 balls in just 40 minutes. He planted 8 fours and 10 skyscrapers for this record. AB’s record has yet not been broken till today. After him, the second in the list is New Zealand’s Corey Anderson, who had scored a century on 36 balls in 2014.
Mr 360 also equaled Rohit Sharma’s world record of putting up record 16 sixes in an innings. However, the record is now named after England veteran Eoin Morgan (17 sixes).

South Africa’s then captain De Villiers batted in a destructive manner and scored 149 runs in just 44 balls with the help of 16 sixes and 9 fours. He was caught out on the fourth ball of the final over of the innings. He made 2 big ODI records during this inning.

Former South African batsman AB de Villiers is the only batsman who has scored a century (twice) when coming to bat after the 30th over.
He had to bat against India in 33rd over in the year 2010 where he went on to score a century. Then he scored a century in Johannesburg after coming to field in the 39th over.
AB De Villiers made more than 20,000 international runs in her career. Hitman recorded 25 centuries, 53 half-centuries in ODI, while in the test he scored 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries.
