Happy Birthday Alka Yagnik: India’s celebrated female singer Alka Yagnik will turn a year older on March 20. The singer has lent her voice for songs in multiple languages include Telugu, Tamil, Kannada to name a few.

Born to a Gujarat family, Alka is a classically trained singer and has done playback singing for more than 700 films.

The singer got her first break with Satyen Bose’s Payal Ki Jhankaar in 1979. She grabbed the limelight with evergreen hit number Ek Do Teen from the film Tezaab in 1988. For the Madhuri Dixit starrer, Alka had bagged first Filmfare Best Female Playback Award.

Besides singing, Alka also judged several singing reality shows on television. She mentioned that kids and children are the main reasons for doing reality shows and she feels comfortable working with them.

Tip Tip Barsa Paani:

Raveena set the screens on fire with her smouldering moves in this track. Her sizzling hot chemistry with Akshay Kumar is one of the highlights of the song. Alka Yagnik lent her voice for this hit number which proved to be a massive hit.

Baahon Ke Darmiya:

One of the most romantic songs of ever! Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala’s chemistry in this one was the most amazing thing about the film and the song.

Jaane Kyu Log:

This playful number is from the Farhan Akhtar directorial Dil Chahta Hai. The track was picturised on Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta. The lyrics were penned by Javed Akhtar and the music composition was by Shankar Ehsaan Loy.

Aaye Ho Meri Zindagi Mein:

Aaye Ho Meri Zindagi Mein from the superhit film Raja Hindustani starring Aamir Khan and Karishma was instrumental to her rise to fame.

Baazigar:

Baazigar starring Shah Rukh Khan in negative role was a big hit in the late nineties. The title song of Baazigar has been a big hit in B Town and it was sung by the talented singer.

Tere Bina Tere Bina:

Tere Bina Tere Bina is a song from the Kareena Kapoor and Fardeen Khan starrer Khushi, which released in 2003. The song is sung by Alka Yagnik along with Shan while the music was composed by Anu Malik. Kareena’s vivacious performance in the titular role, as well as her chemistry with Fardeen Khan, were both appreciated by the audience.

O Re Kanchi:

This is a song from yet another iconic film of Kareena Kapoor, Asoka which released in 2001. The dance number is sung by Alka Yagnik along with Shaan and its music is given by Anu Malik. The epic historical drama starred Kareena alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.
