Happy Birthday Kangana Ranaut: Biggest controversies of the 'Panga' actor

Ace Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut who bagged 67th National Film Awards on Monday will turn a year older on March 23. The trailer of her upcoming biopic on Jayalalitha ‘Thalaivi’ will release tomorrow.

The versatile actor, who will turn 34-years-old on March 22, made her acting debut with Mahesh Bhatt’s Gangster opposite Emraan Hashmi. After spending a decade in Bollywood, the actor has been awarded with National Award four times.

She was also honoured with Padma Shri, fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India for her contribution in Hindi cinema.

After working in films like Queen, Manikarnika, Fashion, Pagna to name a few, Kangana has created her niche in the film industry. However, she has a string of tiff with Bollywood A-listers including Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and so on.

The ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ actor is often vocal about ‘Nepotism’ and her political views on social media.

On the occasion of Kangana Ranaut’s birthday, here’s a look back at biggest controversies by the actor:

Kangana Ranaut and Aditya Pancholi:

Ranaut accused actor Aditya Pancholi of physically assaulting her and keeping her in house arrest when they were allegedly in a relationship. “It was a very difficult and very harsh time. I was physically abused. This man who was my father’s age hit me hard on my head when I was 17,” she reportedly had said at a press conference, revealing later at a talk show that she was talking about Pancholi. She also filed a police complaint against him.

Kangana Ranaut and Shiv Sena Government:

The actor compared Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and stated she didn’t feel safe there any more. This led to a political maelstrom involving chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, who is also the leader of the Hindu nationalist Shiv Sena party.

The municipal crew tore down an office on the site of her Mumbai residence on the grounds of illegal construction. The actor then retaliated by vowing to “expose” Thackeray and top film director Karan Johar, whom she has accused of collusion.

Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone:

Deepika while promoting her film Chhapaak was in Delhi, when the actor paid a visit to the JNU Campus and stood in solidarity with the students. Taking about this, Kangana had stated that Deepika might be exercising her democratic rights, but she will never support anyone who divides this nation, indirectly accusing her for being  the part of the ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang.

Kangana Ranaut and Pink Bowl Smoothie:

Kangana Ranaut gave a sneak peek of her breakfast on March 4 and had shared a picture of a pink smoothie bowl loaded with berries and honey. The smoothie bowl invited trolls and the Queen actor has been accused of ‘copy-pasting’ the picture from Google.

Slamming the trolls, Kangana wrote, ““There are paid smear campaigns happening on Instagram as well …. many derogatory memes and fake information about me being spread ,Instagram is also paid as my followers numbers automatically drop, fans who unfollow don’t even realise it. I know who is behind it.”

“My team has tracked down this source, from where the money for smear campaigns flowing, we found unidentified companies and fake emails from where the information and memes along with money generate, but deep down I know who this is. When the time is right I will reveal his name.”

“The man behind this particular social media smear campaign is a jilted obsessed lover I had a small fling with, he is faking a high profile relationship but won’t marry the kid cause he has many skeletons in his closet, I will reveal his name with solid proofs, hang in there.”
