Maa Shailputri, whose name literally means “Daughter of the Mountain.” Shaila mean mountain and Putri means daughter, is believed to be the reincarnation of Goddess Sati who was born as the daughter of King Himavan. She rides a bull named Nandi and holds a trident. She has a lotus in her hands which represent her martial power and inner peace.
Her first-day worship by devotees during Navratri brings them life stability. It also strengthens their root chakra (Muladhara) and provides them with courage and spiritual grounding according to the Durga Saptashati and Markandeya Purana scriptures.
