Pongal is one of the major festivals of South India primarily in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. The festival of Pongal will be celebrated on 14th January i.e. Thursday. On Pongal, people worship rain, sunshine, Surya dev, Indra dev, and agricultural animals to bring happiness and prosperity. The Festival of Pongal lasts for 4 days. Day 1: Bhogi Pandigai (போகி பண்டிகை), Day 2: Thai Pongal or Surya Pongal (தை பொங்கல்), Day 3: Maattu Pongal (மாட்டுப் பொங்கல்) and Day 4: Kaanum Pongal (காணும் பொங்கல்).
