The 72nd Republic Day of India is just a few weeks away now. This day is celebrated to mark the day when India officially adopted the constitution and replaced the Government of India Act (1935).
The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system.
The main Republic Day celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Rajpath before the President of India. Every year the parade happens on 26th January to embark the day when India became a Republic from Vijaya Chowk to historic Red Fort.
