All-rounder Hardik Pandya and his elder brother Krunal Pandya are in deep shock. As the father of these two stars of Indian cricket has passed away. Their father died of cardiac arrest. Hardik Pandya is currently not playing cricket these days but his elder brother Krunal Pandya is playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Hardik’s father Himanshu Pandya used to run a car finance business in Surat, which he had to stop when he moved to Vadodara with his family. At that time, Hardik was 5 years old. The father did so so that Hardik could be given better cricket training. Hardik Pandya had recently returned home from the Australian tour after participating in the ODI and T20 series, while his brother Krunal is leading the Baroda team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Hardik was adjudged man of the series in the recent T20I series against Australia.
Father made both of them a star
After their arrival in Vadodara, both Hardik and Krunal were admitted to the academy of former Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More. Their father always wanted to make his two sons a better cricketer. Himanshu Pandya once said that Hardik Pandya used to be a leg-spinner till the age of 18, but later at the behest of Baroda coach Sanath Kumar, he started bowling fast. Today, Hardik is counted among the finest all-rounders in international cricket, and his father’s decision and his hard work are a major contributor.
Pandya family mourns father’s demise
Hardik Pandya is expected to return for the series against England. In view of the preparations for the same series, he also decided not to play in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Just a few months ago, Hardik became a father. But now his father’s sudden death has shaken him and his family.
