The elections in Haryana have taken an interesting turn as no party at the moment is seen to have attained the majority mark. While the Bharatiya Janata Party is currently leading on 37 seats, Congress is ahead on 35 constituencies. Jannayak Janta Party has 10 of its candidates ahead in their respective constituencies.

Among 7 independent candidates who are leading, one name is that of Rakesh Daulatabad, competing from the Badshahpur constituency. According to sources, Daultabad was denied ticket from Congress owing to caste equations. Contesting as an independent, Daultabad registered a whopping 51.48 per cent of the total votes polled against his name. With over 73000 votes, the independent candidate has a massive lead of nearly 18 thousand votes on Bharatiya Janata Party’s Manish Yadav. Congress hope Rao Kamalbir Singh has received a mare 3.8 per cent votes in his favour.

Competing on the INLD ticket in 2014, Daultabad came second, falling short of 18 thousand votes against BJP’s Narbir Singh. Daultabad had also competed unsuccessfully from the same constituency in 2009.
