A day after the results for the Haryana Assembly Elections declared on Thursday, October 24, a hung assembly, amidst reports of Independent MLAs joining Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda said that in case the Independent MLAs join the BJP, people will beat them up with shoes.

“The Independent MLAs, who are going to be a part of the Khattar government are digging their own political grave. They are selling the trust of people. People of Haryana will never forgive those who do so. People will thrash them with shoes in the time to come,” Hooda was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

In the results declared on Thursday, BJP won 40 Assembly seats 6 shy of the majority mark in the 90-seat legislative assembly, while Congress won 31 and Dushyant Chautala’s JJP bagged 10 seats.

Earlier, BJP working president JP Nadda had met the saffron party’s president Amit Shah at his residence. Party General Secretary Anil Jain and party’s new Organising Secretary BL Santosh were also present in the meeting.

Haryana Lokhit Party leader Gopal Kanda was seen leaving Nadda’s residence yesterday. Kanda’s brother Gobind Kanda had said that their party is in touch with five more MLAs, who will extend their “unconditional support” to the ruling party.
