HBSE 10th Results 2020: Over 87,000 students fail in Haryana Board exam

New Delhi: A total of 87,070 students have failed in the Haryana Class 10th board exam this year while 32,501 students have got compartments.

New Delhi: Finally, the Haryana Board has announced the results for class 10th students on Friday (July 10) evening putting an end to the long wait of the students however, for some students, the exam result news is disappointing. A total of 87,070 students have failed in the Haryana Class 10th board exam this year while 32,501 students have got compartments.

This year, 64.59% of the total students have cleared the exam. Girls have outshined the boys in terms of pass percentage. The pass percentage of girls is 69.86 and that of boys is 60.27. The Class 10th exam was conducted in March.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has wished all the students a bright future after the result announcement.

Rishita, student of Tagore Senior Secondary School, Hisar has topped the HBSE 10th exam with 500 marks.

A total of five students secured the second position with 499 marks. They are Uma, Kalpana, Nikita Maruti Sawant, Sneh, Ankita. Two students bagged the third position- Chahak, Rohit.

This year, around 3.7 lakh students have taken the 10th board exams which were to be conducted from March 4, 2020, to March 27, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, exams after March 19 were postponed.

As the situation intensified and worse, the Haryana Chief Minister made the decision to cancel the remaining board exams for class 10 students and to mark students based on the 4 papers they had already taken till March 19 before the lockdown was induced.

“According to the marking policy adopted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the Board of School Education Haryana, Bhiwani also considered marks based on the average marks of the examination conducted in the subjects and the result has been tabulated accordingly,” the official statement said.

The overall pass percentage of government schools is 59.74 and the pass percentage of private schools is 69.51.

The pass percentage of students from rural areas is 64.39, while the pass percentage of students from urban areas is 65.

Around 1,85,429 boys have taken the secondary (re-appear) exam, out of which 1,11,751 cleared and 1,52,262 girl candidates appeared of which 1,06,369 passed.
