Here are few homemade hacks for morning sickness

True, having a baby is a unique experience of life. But if there is one thing that you absolutely hate in the entire process, it is most likely the inevitable morning sickness. However, morning sickness can also be caused due to various other conditions such as anxiety, acidity, etc. While we are trying to make it easy for you, remember to consult your doctor if the symptoms don’t go away.

While there are cases the woman experiences if for the whole nine months, for some, it is over in the first few weeks. And then there are the unfortunate few, who suffer so badly that they could be struggling to get out of bed in the morning.

A PERSONAL TAKE

Personally, it was the smell of boiling milk that triggered nausea for me. The smell would stay in my mind the whole day, even after a bucket load of spewing. One day my confused husband called up his mother instantly, who suggested a slew of remedies to tide over my morning sickness.

However, we are here to teach the 99 % – the ones who have a hard time with morning sickness – using a few quick tricks with ingredients found at home. Hopefully, this will deter you from pulling out your hair in despair and lend in some relief at the end of the day.

The sad part of the morning sickness can be triggered by any thing; just anything at all — food, smell-of what-have-you’s, or even standing up. The following suggestions can be applied for all any of them.

LET’S START RIGHT FROM THE TIME YOU GO TO BED.

Drink some water each time you wake up in the night to visit the bathroom.

• First thing after you wake up, nibble on a cracker. Yes, even before you brush your teeth. Make this a habit for a few months.

• The wonder root, Ginger, which is used to counter motion sickness, is going to be your best friend in these ‘nauseating’ months! You can add ginger to your tea to settle the rising stomach or just sip flat, room temperature ginger-ale.

• Eat small portions of food through out the day. The typical three meals may sit heavily in your tummy, making you feel sick.

• Although most pregnant women get this funny urge and lust to eat certain food items, do avoid fried, fatty foods, if they are calling out to you. Your taste buds might enjoy the taste, but your tummy could downright revolt making you throw up.

• Lemon, in different ways, could be your saviour. Add a slice to your water before drinking or simply smell it. It helps with the morning sickness.

• Chew on anise or ‘saunf’ slowly. It helps to soothe the upset stomach.

However, don’t be surprised if none of these work for you. In extreme cases, the doctor will prescribe safe anti-vomit tablets that will help with this period.

Either way, remember to keep having fluids and to keep your body hydrated. Drink water, in some form, throughout the day.

It might seem scary at first, but the moment you hold your bundle of joy in your arms, you can put this phase behind you. Till then, we hope these tricks help!
