New GST Rules For Two-Wheelers
The new GST system brings a big change for two-wheelers below 350cc. Earlier, they were taxed at 28%, but now the tax rate has dropped to 18%. This 10 percent cut makes a direct impact. For example, if a motorcycle was priced at ₹1 lakh, the same bike will now cost around ₹90,000 ex-showroom.

However, the story is different for bigger motorcycles. Bikes with engines above 350cc will face a higher tax under the new system. They will now be taxed at 40 % instead of the earlier 28% GST plus 3 percent cess. This works out to about a 9% increase. So, a bike that cost ₹2 lakh will now be priced close to ₹2.18 lakh ex-showroom. On top of this, the road tax will also go up, making large-capacity motorcycles more expensive to own in the future.
