Shimla, Feb 26 (IANS) Health and Family Welfare Minister Vipin Parmar was unanimously elected as Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday.
The main opposition Congress did not field any candidate for the post. There were four resolutions supporting Parmar’s candidature.
The post fell vacant following the resignation of Rajeev Bindal, who assumed the post of the BJP state president.
Three-time legislator Parmar (55) is MLA from Sulah in Kangra district. He was reluctant to leave the Cabinet berth.
