Shimla, Sep 8 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh recorded 1,946 suicides in three years and this year till July-end, there was a slight fall in the number of such cases compared to this period last year, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur informed the assembly on Tuesday.
He said from January 1, 2018 to July 31, 2020, 1,197 men and 749 women committed suicide in the state.
Replying to a question by the Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri, Thakur said this year till July 31, 481 suicides were reported.
The Chief Minister said there was a slight fall in the number of suicide cases during the seven months of this year compared to the last year when there were 434 cases.
The cases were linked to economic distress, depression, marital dispute, drug addiction and impulsive attitude.
