New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out a raid on its own headquarters in the case involving bribery charges against its Special Director Rakesh Asthana. However, this is not the first time when CBI raided its own headquarter.

Earlier on December 27, 2017, Central Bureau of Investigation raided CBI headquarter and arrested an official named Ajay Garg for creating an illicit software using CBI resources for duping the Tatkal ticket booking system of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

However, the case seems to have taken a political twist as the Congress President Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the discord and indicted for using the agency as a weapon for political benefits. As per a report in NDTV, some source from the Prime Minister’s office has said that the CBI did not seek permission to act against its officer, Asthana which is mandatory in these types of cases.
