Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is testing a subscription service for blue-tick verification, and users are curious about the price. Twitter already provides a premium blue-tick service.
Meta Verified is the name of Mata’s service, which will include additional protection against impersonation accounts and direct access to customer support.
What is the cost of Meta Verification?
Meta Verified will cost $11.99 per month online and $14.99 per month for iPhone users. Currently, it will be introduced only in Australia and New Zealand. There is no information regarding its Android availability.
Zuckerberg wrote on Instagram’s broadcast channel, “This new feature is about enhancing the authenticity and security of all of our services.” Zuckerberg stated that the subscription will enable users to verify their account with a government-issued ID in order to receive a blue badge and enhanced protection against impersonation.
Currently, the meta verification is only available for verifying profiles and not Pages. Public figures who already have a verified badge on Facebook or Instagram are still eligible to subscribe to Meta Verified.
The company has stated that users who already have verified badges on Meta’s platforms will continue to have them.
Meta brings new status features to WhatsApp
In the fourth quarter of 2022, Meta reported a decline in advertising revenue and is clearly seeking to diversify its revenue streams. Elon Musk, the new CEO of Twitter, announced a paid blue tick service a few months ago.
Twitter’s Twitter Blue service costs $8 per month or $84 per year. In addition to the blue checkmark, it offers subscribers additional features such as the ability to edit tweets, undo tweets, bookmark folders, upload longer videos, and create custom app icons.
