Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna Movie Review: Karanvir Bohra’s romantic thriller is few decades too late

Actor Karanvir Bohra’s Bollywood debut movie is about destruction and mayhem when infatuation takes an ugly shape which unleashes an obsessive lover. Karanvir Bohra as Dhruv takes obsession too far and that all too soon.

The movie is set in the hill station and it traces the journey of Dhruv who is a simple bookstore and café owner. He falls in love with a renowned novelist Ananya Tripathi (Priya Banerjee) but after that thing doesn’t go as it was planned.

The good part is that Dhruv’s intense and impulsive actions set the mood of the story in the right light. With several blends, the film tries to heighten the drama with suspense and thrills. But the storyline goes a little predictable and that is the reason it will fail to keep you hooked to your seat.

The movie has some moments that will keep you engaged for a brief while but later it would make you get up and leave with the end already in your mind.

On the performances front, Karanvir is effective in its role but Priya Banerjee gives a lacking performance so like the rest of the cast who doesn’t seem engaged in the story.

What you can look forward in the movie is Juhi Chawla’s cameo and inspector Arun Sherawat’s (Mahesh Balraj) references to the classic movies. On the technical aspect, the background score blends well with the scenes. The redux song version of the classic 80s song ‘Hume Tumse Pyaar Kitna’ will make you re-visit time with hard-hitting nostalgia.

Overall, the movie will remind you of the era when Bollywood romanticized tales of obsessive lovers. The climax of the film falls flat and there is nothing new you would see in the movie apart from class acting by Karanvir Bohra. The obsessive lovers do everything a crazy teenager would do in love. From staling to, letters are written in blood to photos of lady love on the walls, the movie offers nothing to look forward to. That is the reason it makes it a few decades too late.
