Hyderabad: Man displays "AP CM Jagan" on vehicle's number plate to avoid toll tax; booked

A bizarre incident of cheating traffic cops has come to light where a man wrote “AP CM Jagan” on his car’s number plate to evade from playing the toll tax in Hyderabad.

The car owner displayed on his vehicle not as a sticker but as permanent iron plates in place of the number plates on both front and rear. This was detected during a routine checking of vehicles by the traffic police in Jedimetla on October 19. The incident came to light on Tuesday.

The vehicle bearing no. AP10-BD 7299 was driven by a youth identified as Muppidi Hari Rakesh, a resident of Hyderabad (TS) and native of Pitapuram, East Godavari of Andhra Pradesh.

The vehicle is registered in the name of Yesu Reddy of Pitapuram, East Godavari.

On being asked, Rakesh said that he did this to get exemption from paying toll tax and evade checking by the traffic police. Following this, the police seized his car and registered a case of cheating and fraud against him.

According to the website of the Hyderabad Traffic Police, fancy lettering, names, pictures and arts should not be displayed on the number plates, as it would be a violation of the Motor Vehicles Act.
