The Indore police of Madhya Pradesh has arrested a 22-year-old engineering student for pretending to be politicians or police officials and making fake calls to threaten people.
Recently, the student identified as Rajpal Singh, called the Pithampur NPA CMO by becoming MLA Ramesh Mendola from Indore using the fake call application. Over the call, he said that, “I am MLA Ramesh Mendola speaking … the work I am telling you, should be done.”
Rajpal’s crime came to highlight when he pretended to be the SP and called Sagar police station in-charge Prateek Sharma’s personal number and said, “I am SP speaking this side. The work of Rajpal of Sagaur should be done over the phone itself.”

The difference in voice gave a doubt to the police official who then kept Rajpal’s instructions on hold. Next time when Rajpal called again pretending to be SP, officer recorded the phone number and traced Rajpal. To confirm it, officer called the SP who denied of making any call to him.
During interrogation with police, accused Rajpal revealed that earlier, he had also called Pithampur NPA CMO and MPPEB engineer by becoming MLA Ramesh Mendola from Indore using fake call application. He had also chatted and instructed officials several times on WhatsApp.

He further told that he works with his father in construction company. There was a problem in passing the file in government offices. That is why he used the fake call app. He said that he chose the name of MLA Ramesh Mendola because he was not the MLA of the area and was an influential person.
Police has registered a case against him, and has started an investigation in the matter.
