Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has been repeatedly questioned about his nationality to which the actor finally broke the silence today, stating that he has never hidden or denied that he hold a Canadian Passport.
In a Twitter post on Friday, he wrote that he is a tax-payer In India and intends to make the country ‘stronger and stronger.’
“Really don’t understand unwarranted interest & negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that I hold a Canadian passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years. I work in India, and pay all my taxes in India,” says Kesari actor Akshay Kumar.
” While all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy, a matter that is personal, legal, non-political, and of no consequence to others,” he added.

Akshay Kumar was recently seen in the spotlight for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s non-political interview. Then, when the fourth phase of Lok Sabha election took place in Mumbai on April 29, the actor didn’t vote for which he was lashed out by the people and by memes on social media questioning his nationality.
The reason for not voting is his Canadian citizenship. A journalist asked him why he didn’t cast his vote?. However, Akshay ignored this question and went away by saying, “Let’s go.”
Akshay Kumar is one of the Bollywood stars that PM Modi had appealed to make people aware of voting.
