5:45 PM| Moderna said Monday its shots provide strong protection, a dash of hope against the grim backdrop of coronavirus surges in the U.S. and around the world.

Moderna said its vaccine appears to be 94.5% effective, according to preliminary data from the companys still ongoing study. A week ago, competitor Pfizer Inc. announced its own COVID-19 vaccine appeared similarly effective news that puts both companies on track to seek permission within weeks for emergency use in the U.S.

12:50 PM| Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain has said there is no chance of another lockdown in the national capital and added that the third wave in the city has already passed its peak. Jain said another lockdown will not be an effective step and said, “Wearing of masks by everyone will be more beneficial.” Satyendar Jain went on to say that the third wave of Covid-19 has passed its peak in Delhi in November. “The third wave of COVID-19 has passed its peak in Delhi,” he added.

Kumar will take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the fourth straight term this afternoon after closely-fought legislative assembly elections in the state. Kumar, after meeting Governor Phagu Chauhan to stake claim to form NDA government in Bihar, had on Sunday announced that the oath-taking, as well as the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet, will be held at around 4.30 pm on Monday.


India registered the lowest daily cases in four months with 30,548 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, government data shows. This figure was 25% lower than yesterday’s caseload.  India now has more than 88.45 lakh total coronavirus cases so far, with 1.3 lakh deaths related to COVID-19.

The coronavirus deaths climbed to 1,30,070 with 435 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. The number of active cases remained below 5 lakh for the sixth consecutive day.
