A massive forgery case in Delhi has been doing rounds amongst students as a news article of a Hindi newspaper was circulated among students about a fake PhD degree case in Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies (TIAS).

It is reported that Honey Shah, a faculty in the BA(JMC) department at Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies, Pitampura, Delhi was caught providing a fake PhD degree during verifications of her credentials.

The case was highlighted when the faculty of the same institute reported about the fake degree row and on July 8, the director of TIAS wrote a letter to Bundelkhand University.

The letter was to verify the documents provided by Honey Shah. But the university confirmed that the said details and claims were false.

Honey Shah did not get the doctrine certificate from them.

It was said that Honey Shah took her PhD degree from Bundelkhand University of Jhansi. The faculty has been employed at Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies, and was teaching for several years in the same institute which is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

Dr. Gajendra Pratap Singh, the former faculty in TIAS in conversation with Newsd said that Mrs Honey Shah applied for the associate professor in the college as she claimed that she hold the PhD degree which she received from Bundelkhand University. Mr. Singh was pass out from MA MPhil from Bundelkhand and he thus filed the RTI for Honey Shah’s degree and by this he came to the information that Shah’s degree was fake and Singh thus informed about it to the Director of the college.

Singh also said that from 2005-2020, the Bundelkhand University has not provided any PhD degree and thus the claims made by Mrs Honey Shah is fake.

According to the claims made by Honey Shah, she acquired the degree under the supervision of Dr Kaushal Tripathi. She also claimed to successfully submit a research paper on 25th June 2019. The research paper was on “A Role of Media on Ethical Branding with Special Reference to FMCG Products”. The whole scenario came forward when the teaching faculty went through a verification process.

However, Dr Kuashal Tripathi confirmed that no student under his supervision has acquired a PhD degree till now.

A report against Honey Shah was made and brought in the notice of the director of TIAS. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has also been asked to look into this matter and take necessary steps. Further legal actions are yet to be taken in the above case.
