Kolkata Knight Riders will kick-start their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 campaign when they take on Mumbai Indians in Match 5 in Abu Dhabi today.
Back in 2019, the Knights failed to make the playoffs despite winning quite a few matches to begin their campaign. However, in the middle of the round-robin stage, Karthik’s men lost six matches in a row and completely lost the momentum. West Indies’ Andre Russell was both their leading run-scorer and top wicket-taker, but his valiant efforts went in vain.
With their IPL 2020 campaign set to begin, KKR look more confident with one of the best sides of the league this year. Captain Dinesh Karthik has also hinted at Shubhman Gill and Sunil Narine opening the innings on Wednesday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Since 2013, MI has never won an opening game and the script didn’t change against Chennai Super Kings, who took control of the match during the last 10 overs of the first innings.
