One of the key reasons for a bad season was Kane Williamson of New Zealand, who had a strike rate below 100 throughout the competition. With an awful strike rate of 93 and a horrible average of 19, Kane Williamson, who was dealing with an elbow issue, managed to score 216 runs in 13 innings.

Nicholas Pooran of the West Indies, who cost INR 10.75 crores, and Romario Shepherd, who cost INR 7.75 crores, were their two largest purchases at the IPL auction.
