New Delhi, July 3 (IANS) Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, one of the Open Qualifying Series events, will kick off on July 4 at the Lahinch golf course in Ireland for the first time. The 7,000,000 pound prize purse event is a part of the European Tour.

The Indian challenge at this picturesque course will be lead by Gaganjeet Bhullar, who finished T-13 at the Andalucia Masters after maintaining his place amongst the top 10 for the first three days of the tournament.

Shubhankar Sharma on the other hand will be looking to better his performance after a poor display at the Andalucia Masters finishing at the 153rd spot. S.S.P Chawrasia will be disappointed from his performance at the Andalucia Masters as he couldn’t make the cut and will be looking to make amends at the Irish Open.

Defending champion Russell Knox, who won the tournament last year at Ballyliffin Golf Club, will be eyeing a similar result as the current year hasn’t yielded many wins for the two time European Tour winner. The field also has the likes of the Spaniard Jon Rahm, who would be coming on the back of a second position finish at the Andalucia Masters and Andalucia Masters winner and South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout will also tee off in the second half of the day along with Jon Rahm.

DSPORT will broadcast the European Tour event from 18:30 hrs, starting July 4.
