It is ‘humiliation’ that made BSP MLAs revolt

Lucknow, Oct 28 (IANS) Five BSP MLAs who have revolted against the party, have said that they were ‘humiliated and insulted’ by coordinators which forced them to take the decisive step.

BSP MLA, Aslam Raini said that two months ago, he was suffering from Coronavirus and it was Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi president Akhilesh Yadav who called him up and ensured that he got proper treatment.

“No one from my party bothered to contact me and my leader also did not call me,” he said.

Though the BSP legislators denied that they were joining the Samajwadi Party and said that they had come to meet Akhilesh Yadav on a ‘courtesy visit’, they admitted that they were not being given due respect in the BSP.

“The BJP should first explain why it fielded only eight candidates when it had numbers for nine candidates. They should tell the people which party was hand-in-gloves with them,” Samajwadi Party MLC Udaiveer Singh said.

“We had numbers for two candidates so we fielded our party leader Prof Ram Gopal Yadav and then supported an Independent. The Independent candidate can and should contact all legislators, especially those who are disgruntled with their respective parties.”

In a related development, the sixth BSP MLA Sushma Patel also met Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday afternoon but denied that she was quitting BSP.

Sources said that the BSP rebels were playing a shrewd game and wanted to be expelled from the party so that they do not lose their membership of the state assembly.
