Jaipur: 24-year-old trainee doctor hangs self to death; family claims “harassed by seniors”

In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old woman doctor who was interning at the SMS Hospital in Jaipur, hanged herself to death on Wednesday after she was allegedly harassed by her seniors. The 24-year-old woman resident doctor has been identified as Sakshi Gupta who died after hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her hostel.

No suicide note was recovered from the slain doctor. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gandhi Nagar, Nawab Khan, the parents of the victim have filed a police complaint against five doctors for abetment to suicide of Sakshi Gupta. Her parents have alleged that she was being harassed by five of her seniors.

On Wednesday morning, when Sakshi missed her classes, her hostel room was checked and the police found her hanging from the ceiling fan.

Police have registered an FIR against five doctors. The post-mortem of the body will be conducted on Thursday.

A resident of Fazilka in Punjab, Sakshi had taken admission in the postgraduate degree programme in the gynaecology department in May this year.
