Shah Rukh and Atlee team up for 'Jawan', film to release on June 2, 2023

Jawan box office prediction: Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Atlee, has finally arrived in theatres today. It appears that the film will break many box office records, including that of Shah Rukh Khan’s previous film Pathaan, based on the initial reactions to the film.

With a 5 am show in Kolkata, a 6 am one in Jaipur, and tickets flying off the proverbial shelf, Shah Rukh Khan’s actioner is poised to surpass the opening day figures of his own film “Pathaan,” with day one earnings estimated to be around Rs 75 crore.

Sumit Kadel, a film critic and industry analyst, estimates that this amount includes between Rs 60 crore and Rs 65 crore for the Hindi version and between Rs 10 crore and Rs 15 crore for the Tamil and Telugu dubs. He added that the film is anticipated to earn anywhere between Rs 250 crore and Rs 300 crore in net box office receipts, assuming positive word of mouth.

As of Wednesday at 11:59 p.m., trade expert Taran Adarsh shared an update on Thursday tickets sold across national chains, revealing that the number stood at 5,570,000. “Pathaan had 556k followers at 11:59 p.m.,” he said.

Pathaan was a worldwide box office success, grossing an estimated Rs 1,050 crore. Jawan, described by its creators as a high-octane thriller depicting “the emotional journey of a man determined to right society’s wrongs,” could surpass that.

In addition to Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara, the film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Its release coincides with the success of recent Bollywood theatrical releases, “Gadar 2” and “OMG 2.”

“Out of the 10 lakh capacity on inauguration day, we’ve sold approximately 25% of the tickets, or about 2.5 lakh tickets across PVR INOX screens on Thursday. It is a very large number, and preliminary estimates indicate that it may be larger than ‘Pathaan’,” PVR-INOX Ltd Executive Director Sanjeev Kumar Bijli told PTI.

“According to estimates, the opening day gross will be between Rs 65 and Rs 70 crore, which is greater than ‘Pathaan’. The first-day earnings for ‘Pathaan’ were Rs 55 crore. Therefore, presumably it will be larger than ‘Pathaan’,” he added.
