Deepa Jayakumar, late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s niece has decided to enter politics to accomplish her aunt’s dreams, on Tuesday. “I can’t see anyone in the place of Jayalalithaa. It was after talking to AIADMK cadre that I decided to enter politics,” said Deepa at a press conference at her home.

“There are two options — one to join the AIADMK and the other, to launch a new party. I will take a call on it after talking to my supporters,” she added. Deepa said she would declare her choice on February 24, her aunt’s birth anniversary.

When asked whether she was frightened of AIADMK general secretary V K sasikala, she said, “I’m not scared of anybody, it is not my nature.”

However, the young leader kept herself away from questions regarding Sasikala saying, “I don’t want to make any personal comment now. Cadre’s and people’s decision is final.”

Answering a question on her lack of experience in politics, she said taking care of the interests of the people is vital, and not experience.

“I will follow the footsteps of MGR and Jayalalithaa and I will work for the welfare of people. A number of schemes that Amma implemented should be reached to the right people. I will work for it,” she said.

Huge crowd of supporters were seen shouting slogans supporting the young leader at Deepa’s house in T Nagar.
