NEET 2020 is slated on September 13 while the JEE Mains is scheduled to be conducted between September 1 to September 6. Both of these exams have been delayed a number of times in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and keeping the students’ safety as a priority.
Recently, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea seeking postponement of the JEE Main and NEET exams for this year. The plea was in favor of conducting key entrance examinations only after normalcy is restored post-COVID-19 crisis.
The petitioners urged the Apex Court to direct the Centre for cancellation of the NEET and JEE (Main) exams scheduled for September amid pandemic crisis.
It was also urged that the number of NEET and JEE examination centres in the country be increased and that at least one centre be provided in one district of each state.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Subramaniam Swamy wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to ask the Education ministry to postpone NEET, JEE Main 2020 exams.
