Jharkhand health minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi on Friday, July 12 filed a defamation suit against unknown persons after a video of him allegedly taking Rs 15,000 Garhwa village residents went viral on the social media.

In the viral video, Chandravanshi was reportedly, while at a gathering, heard asking locals of the village to give a sum of Rs 15,000 and could be seen accepting notes.

“I had gone to Adar village under Bardiha block on Thursday to inaugurate a road which was recently built. After the programme, the villagers wanted that I get a Chabutara constructed in the village with my MLA fund. Since I did not have money, I took Rs 15,000 from my associate and handed it over to the village mukhiya with a condition that he must return it to me once the residents are able to raise the fund required for its construction,” Chandravanshi was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

Police are currently investigating the matter and have been questioning one individual for the same.
