JNU violence live updates: Delhi Police names JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh in FIR

Student communities across the country are standing in solidarity with JNU, after a mob beat up students and teachers inside the university campus on Sunday night.

Violence erupted in Jawaharlal Nehru University on Sunday evening after a mob pelted stones at protesting students and brutally attacked JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh. The incident took place during a march in the varsity around 5 PM when masked individuals with rods entered Sabarmati hostel.

Around 19 students, all from Left-backed groups, and  five teachers were injured. JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh and General Secretary Satish Chandra Yadav were also injured in the attack, as per the videos and images surfaced on social media.

Delhi Police has filed a FIR against JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh and 19 others(name not in accused column but in detail list) for attacking security guards and vandalizing server room on January 4. The complaint was filed by JNU administration. FIR was registered on January 5.


10:00 AM | JNU professor withdraws from panel citing situation in university

Eminent economist and JNU professor C P Chandrasekhar on Monday said he had withdrawn from the newly-constituted 28-member Standing Committee on Statistics (SCES) citing the situation in the university.
