Karnataka: Two dead after BJP MLA CT Ravi's car hit them in Tumkur

Two people urinating on the side of the road died when Bharatiya Janata Party’s MLA CT Ravi’s car hit the duo and their car.

As per the early emerging reports, the deceased were returning from Kollur Temple in Udipi to Bengaluru on Monday night. They were urinating on the side of the road near Kunigal town in Tumkur district of Karnataka when CT Ravi’s car collided with the car of the deceased.

Chikmagalur MLA Ravi was sitting on the left seat. He sustained minor injuries on the chest as he hit the car’s dashboard in the accident. Three others including his driver, were also injured in the accident.

A case in the matter has been registered at Kunigal Police Station under Sections 279, 336 and 304A of IPC.

Friends of the victims claimed that CT Ravi, along with the driver, should be held responsible for the accident. Few reports allege that he was drunk at the time of the incident.

However, BJP’s state media convenor, S Shantaram, in a statement refuted such reports which claimed that CT Ravi was behind the wheels in an inebriated state.

The statement said, “With deep regret and pain over the sad demise of the two persons in an accident between two cars, in which CT Ravi was travelling, we wish to clarify the following. After the accident happened near Kunigal, CT Ravi was present at the accident spot till the bodies were removed and the injured were shifted to hospital. He was not driving the car nor he has any drinking habit as reported.”

Later in a statement, CT Ravi also claimed that he was not the one driving the vehicle. Taking to the Twitter, he extended his condolences for the deceased.
