The Spiritual Meaning of Kartik Purnima
The month of Kartik holds great importance in Hindu belief. Many devotees choose to bathe every day in this month, while others perform Kalpavas on the banks of the Ganga River. According to spiritual guru Pandit Kamalapati Tripathi, “bathing in the Ganges on this day absolves one of sins.”

The Purnima Tithi will start on November 4, 2025, at 10:36 PM and will end on November 5, 2025, at 6:48 PM. Based on the Udaya Tithi, Kartik Purnima will be celebrated on November 5 only.
The Right Time
On this day, the Brahma Muhurta for taking a bath is between 04:46 AM and 05:37 AM. The Vijay Muhurta is from 01:56 PM to 02:41 PM, and the Twilight time will be from 5:40 PM to 6:05 PM. The moonrise will happen at 7:20 PM.
Method of Worship
People wake up before sunrise and bathe during the auspicious time. They then pray to the Sun God. Those who cannot visit temples clean their homes and set up a small worship space with a yellow cloth, placing idols of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi on it. Devotees offer flowers, light lamps, and recite the Vishnu Chalisa.
They also present fruits and sweets to the deities and later share the prasad with family. After the puja, people donate to the poor. “It is believed that after completing the puja, one should donate to the poor as per one’s capacity.” Lighting a lamp near the Tulsi plant and immersing it in water is also considered very lucky.
