Katoria (ST) Assembly Constituency 2025: Katoria (ST) is a reserved Assembly seat in Banka district, Bihar. It is one of only two constituencies in the state that are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST). The constituency is an assembly segment of Katoria Vidhan Sabha. It comprises Katoria and Shikaripara community development blocks.
Voters and Local Issues
The constituency has a mixed demographic structure, e.g. Yadavs, EBCs (Kushwaha, Kurmi), Muslim minorities, and Scheduled Castes. Historically, the RJD, as a MY-centric party, bagged the maximum votes from the MY-dominated booths, whereas JD(U) and BJP were concentrating on the EBC and SC communities through the message of welfare-based politics to attract them.
The list of local issues of Katoria is very long, and among these, the failure of flood embankments, poor public school infrastructure, and lack of irrigation facilities for farming are the most prominent ones. While welfare schemes are very much liked by Lady voters, they are usually quite dissatisfied with the supply that is slow or even inconsistent.

In the recent elections, Katoria’s political landscape has undergone dramatic changes. In the 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, Sweety Sima Hembram of the RJD won this seat by a margin of 14,337 votes. Consequently, the RJD candidate received 54,760 votes, whereas the BJP candidate got 44,423 votes.
On the other hand, in 2020, Dr. Nikki Hembram of the BJP returned with a bang, defeating Dr. Hembram by 6,421 votes. Dr. Hembram had a total of 74,785 votes in her favour while Sweety Sima Hembram managed to gather 68,364 votes.
