Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday praised the health facilities in the national capital by saying that people from across the country seek medical aid in Delhi at low or free of cost.
While addressing a gathering at the inauguration of a trauma centre at the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Arvind Kejriwal said, “earlier medicines were unable at the counters but now, all kinds of medicins prescribed by the doctors are available around the state, and that too free of cost. ”
Praising the health facilities and the number of hospitals in the national capital, Kejriwal said that “Delhi has enough number of hospitals to treat people of Delhi. If you want to treat only people from Delhi, then these hospitals are sufficient. However, we once conducted a survey of a hospital at the Delhi border and it emerged that 80 per cent people were from outside Delhi.”

He continued that the quality of medical facilities in Delhi is one of the biggest reasons behind long queues at hospitals here.
“A man comes from Bihar, buys a Rs 500 ticket and gets an operation worth Rs 5 lakh done here for free. When I see this happening, I feel happy that these are our people and they are getting good treatment but Delhi has its own capacity. How will Delhi take care of the entire country? It is necessary that the medical facilities in the country get better,” said the Delhi Chief Minister.
