In a highly shocking incident, a 47-year old Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police allegedly killed himself in a police station in Kollam on Saturday.

Stalin, who reported for night shift on Friday, was found hanging from the ceiling at the verandah of the police station at Ezhukone on Saturday. The body was spotted by other staff on returning from night patrolling. Stalin had been assigned night duty on Friday. Though he was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead.

“Stalin was promoted as ASI just a month ago. For the past few days, Stalin was very depressed. Even after enquiring repeatedly, he never shared the cause of his worry with anyone here. However, we suspect he was under financial stress as he had recently purchased a house and land at Keralapuram,” said an officer, as quoted by local media.

He was staying at the Kundara police quarters. He will be buried at the St Francis Church cemetery at Koduvila on Sunday.

He is survived by wife Cincy Stalin, children Aneena and Immanuel.
