Massive protests have broken out nationwide over the citizenship law. The Citizenship Amendment Act, for the first time, has made religion the test of citizenship in India.

Amid the unrest across nation, a short video of hundreds of Muslims offering namaz at a church in Kerala has gone viral on socal media, winning several hearts.

The Muslims were taking part in a protest march in Kothamangalam and needed a space to offer their prayers when the march ended. The St Thomas Church, popularly known as Marthoma Cheriapally in Kothamangalam, opened its doors to the Muslims

What is even more heartwarming was that the priest of Marthoma Cheriapally himself offered water to perform Wudhu (the ritual washing performed by Muslims before prayer) to IUML leader Sayyid Munavvar Ali Thangal who was part of the march.

Kerala was one of the first states to come out against the NRC and said that both CAA and NRC won’t be implemented in the state. Unlike most of the state, in Kerala, both the Ruling CPIM-led LDF and the opposition, Congress-led UDF are on the same page when it comes to protests against CAA and NRC
