The CPM has brought back former Kalamassery area secretary VA Zakir Hussain who was expelled from the party over amassing unaccounted assets and financial irregularities. The Ernakulam district committee has reportedly withdrawn the disciplinary action taken against him according to Mathrubhumi. Notably, the Ernakulam district secretary is CPM’s C N Mohanan.

As per CPM, he has been brought back because the suspension period is now over. VA Zakir Hussain has been reinstated as a party committee member.

An inquiry commission appointed by CPM had found Hussain guilty of amassing wealth through improper means and of having traveled abroad without the party’s permission.

“As a person, people of this place know what is my wealth. If there are any complaints regarding this within the party, I can reply only in party committees. I am not supposed to air opinions. The party district secretary is responsible to make any statement in this regard. CPM is not a party that tolerates wrongdoings. If I have committed a mistake, let the party take action,” Zakir Hussain has previously said.
