Thiruvananthapuram: A special team was given the duty by Kerala to study the possibility of people testing positive for coronavirus without showing any symptoms. An 18-year-old girl had tested positive for COVID-19 in Pathanamthitta without showing any symptoms.

The team will consist of health experts from all districts.

The girl, a native of Pandalam, had arrived in Kerala on March 17 and was quarantined for 14 days. Four days after the completion of the quarantine period, she tested positive for COVID-19 and was shifted to hospital. Even then there were no symptoms.

Her samples had to be collected for testing only because she had boarded another train from Nizamuddin, which is considered a hotspot of coronavirus.

A similar case like this was found when a gulf returnee from Adoor also had tested positive for COVID-19 without exhibiting any symptoms.

In the wake of this, the health department has decided to deploy a special team to research on the possibility that there could be many coronavirus positive people sans symptoms in the state without being identified.
