Kerala: Kollam sub-collector suspends his driver for violating home quarantine amidst COVID-19 pandemic

Kollam: Former sub-collector Anupam Mishra’s driver and the gunman were suspended for violating COVID-19 quarantine protocol. Sub collector Anupam Mishra was earlier suspended for travelling to his native place violating quarantine protocol.

The sub-collector returned to Kollam from Thiruvananthapuram airport on March 17.

Gunman Sujith and driver went to receive him at the airport.

After sub-collector made his way to Kollam after coming from abroad, the health department had asked him, his gunman and driver to stay in quarantine.

Anupam Mishra sub-collector’s driver sneaked out from quarantine and went to his house in Kanpur. Following this, the government took a harsh step of suspending him.

The action against his driver and gunman also is part of this.

The gunman, however, has been directed by the police and health department to stay in quarantine from March 17. But after refusing orders and threatening community transmission the gunmen was fired.

Considering negligence on his part, the gunman was suspended for violating quarantine protocol. It was Kollam City Police Commissioner who suspended the gunman.
