Mani C Kappen of the NCP won the Pala Assembly polls as LDF wrests seat from the UDF after 54 years. The bypolls took place following the demise of K Mani who had won all the 13 Assembly elections.
Mani C Kappen defeated the UDF independent candidate Jose Tom Pulikkunnel by a margin of 2937 votes.
