Aparna Lavakumar, a senior civil police officer of Irinjalakuda in Thrissur district shaved her head to donate to the cancer patients. The police officer is getting applauded all over the social media for shaving her knee-length hair to make wigs for cancer patients.
The lady cop decided to chop her hair off after meeting a class 5 student who was battling cancer.
Speaking to a leading national daily, Aparna said, “These children go through a lot of bullying because they are bald. Apart from their illness and issues related to treatment, comments and stares from classmates can also add to their worries.”
“The cancer affected children are taunted or mocked at as they go to school after losing hair from chemotherapy. Any deed to boost their confidence would help,” she said.
According to reports, she has no regrets about shaving her hair, in fact, she used to donate her hair before as well. But, this time she wanted to go the full way.
