In a shocking incident reported, a 35-year-old Trans woman Shalu was found dead on the roadside in Kozhikode in the early hours of Sunday.
Shalu, a resident of Kannur, had reportedly reached Kozhikode on Friday. She was found on the Shankunni Nair Road in Kozhikode. At around 9 am on Monday morning, residents of the neighbourhood discovered her body and alerted the Nadakkavu police station.
As per the preliminary investigation, the police officials have retrieved a CCTV footage of two men who were walking near the area she was found dead.

An FIR under section 174 of the CrPC (Police to enquire or report on suicide, homicide, or death under suspicious circumstances) has been filed following a complaint by Sisily Georg (transgender activist and founder of Punarani Cultural Society, which works for trans rights).
Meanwhile the body of the deceased has been sent to the Kozhikode Medical College hospital for post mortem. The probe in underway.
